Tom Craig Band

Tom Craig
Philadelphia native Tom Craig, who now splits his time between there and South Florida, plays a special brand of Chicago Blues, Memphis Soul and R&B. Tom got his first guitar for his eleventh birthday. Combining 40 years of experience playing his guitar, formal training as a jazz vocalist and his passion for the Blues, gives you all the ingredients for a memorable live performance. Tom’s debut CD, “Get Ready for Me”, has received worldwide radio airplay and critical acclaim.
From: “Making the Familiar Fresh”
Tom Craig is a singer, songwriter, guitarist; initially inspired by jazz vocalists like Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Mel Torme. He found further inspiration in the classic '60s and '70s soul music that was recorded in Memphis and Muscle Shoals and in the blues of the Three Kings (Albert, B.B., and Freddie) as well as Muddy Waters and Stevie Ray Vaughan. For his debut, Craig and his musical cohorts offer a sparkling collection of guitar-centric, horn-propelled, organ-cushioned originals that resonate with blues and soul. As a singer, Craig seamlessly blends subtlety and swagger…and as a guitarist, his clear, ringing tone and biting solos mostly evoke B.B. King. Like many of the greats who inspired him, Craig heartily understands the concept of “less is more.” His songs are a diverse bunch… making the familiar fresh with grease, grit, and grace.
-Thomas J. Cullen III, Bucks County Blues Society and Blues Music Magazine
In January 2017 he represented the Central Delaware Blues Society in Memphis, Tennessee at the 33rd International Blues Challenge. Now touring in support of this inaugural CD, he has adapted this body of work to produce an intimate live show that still captures the energy of the CD. Don't pass up the opportunity to catch him at your local venue or blues festival.
