Live Review
The Wire
by Matt Kanner

After Death & Taxes came a closing set from the Jacknife Beat, an Epping, NH based trio formed in 2002 by Joe Mazzari. He is a bluesy  rock guitarist with a good deal of fire in his strings. He plays with animated exuberance, strutting around the stage and bringing some punk rock ferocity to his solos and vocals. The band kicked things off with “Miles Away,” the opening track from Mazzari's 2006 album, “Long Live the King,” released on Rocknroll Scene Records. The music initially had a distinct surf rock sound, with bassist Bill Dougherty and drummer Carl Howard backing the guitar-driven melody. Mazzari soloed liberally and proved to be the most proficient guitarist of the night...

Reina Collins

Reina Collins has returned to the Sunshine State after living and performing the past 20 years in the West, Northwest and Rocky Mountains.  She brings with her a new CD, Salt Water Soul.  Reina’s sound has been described as the edgy humanity of Patti Smith to the cool western suave of Chris Isaak to the introspective songwriting of Carole King. Collins' talent is deep and broad enough to recall all of these, while laying claim to a sound that is uniquely her own.
